Mashpee Inclusion & Diversity Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> November 12,2019 at 10:00 am <br /> Mashpee Town Hall <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Present: Chairwoman J. Marie Stevenson, Gail Wilson, Lynne Waterman, Patty DeBoer, Susan <br /> Wilson,William Baker(Non-Voting Member), Cheyenne Hendricks (Non-Voting Member) <br /> Absent: Winnie Johnson-Graham, JoAnn Nadeau, Katherine Brown, Selectman Liaison John <br /> Cotton,Human Resource Director Kim Landry <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting was opened by the Chair at 10:04 a.m. with a quorum. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES October S,2019 <br /> Ms. Waterman suggested a wording change to the minutes on page 3. <br /> MOTION: A motion was made by Ms.DeBoer to approve the minutes. Ms. Waterman <br /> seconded the motion. All voted unanimously. <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> The Chair welcomed new voting member, Susan Wilson,to the Committee. The Chair clarified <br /> that a new procedure had been established requiring that Board of Selectmen first meet <br /> prospective candidates for Committees,prior to voting to appoint them as members. There <br /> remained one vacant position on the MIDC. With new members added to the Committee,the <br /> Chair distributed an updated contact list of MIDC members. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE <br /> The Chair reported that correspondence had been received from Rene Lopez Pocknett,regarding <br /> concerns she had regarding racism in the public school system. The Chair responded by letter, <br /> which she read to the Committee, including an invitation to address the Committee during Public <br /> Comment and identifying the Committee as non-adjudicatory. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> None at this time <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Veterans Outreach-The Chair suggested communicating directly with Veterans and <br /> Veteran Organizations to identify other ways in which the Committee could be of assistance. <br /> The Chair was in contact with Nicole Spencer, of Heroes in Transition, who recommended <br /> encouraging participation at Mashpee's November 11 Veterans Day Ceremony, and combining a <br /> run/walk fundraiser on that day. It was also recommended to identify ways to assist active <br /> service members and their families. <br /> MIDC Brochure-The Chair shared a draft of the brochure, reflecting groups and <br /> volunteer opportunities available in Mashpee, and described the details and intent of the <br />
