Mr. Jack
seconded the motion. All voted unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Speed/Litter on Falmouth/Sandwich Road
Chairman Laurent reported that she had received a letter from a resident on Falmouth/Sandwich
Road concerning an increase in speed and litter. The author of the letter was not present at the
meeting but Mashpee resident Kelly Boettger wished to share her concerns about an increase in
traffic she had seen on the road. Ms. Boettger stated that she was unaware of the existence of the
transfer station or its reopening, other than the increase in truck traffic. Ms. Boettger described
the conditions of the road, including a hill and change in speed from 45 mph to 30 mph. Ms.
Boettger stated that there were a number of children in the neighborhood with four school bus
trips per day. Ms. Boettger expressed safety concerns regarding trucks speeding, and cited their
inability to stop if needed because of their speed. Ms. Boettger also noticed an increase in trash
in the area, which appeared to be coming out of the trucks. Ms. Boettger inquired about
operating hours because she noticed activity early in the day.
Chairman Laurent stated that most of the road was located in Falmouth, but where it entered
Mashpee, speed reduced to 30 mph, because of the proximity of driveways in the development.
Mr. Jack responded that he would check into Falmouth's portion of the road, but presumed the
speed was based on a survey. Mr. Jack explained that road speed was determined through a
survey of the typical speed use of the road. Ms. Boettger inquired whether the traffic should
slow at the 30 mph signage and it was confirmed that traffic should slow based on the posted
1
