4�t�F,;lO�VN pr' <br /> - 7otivn of-'Mashpee <br /> Shellfish Commission 'Mashpee 7oivn Haff <br /> 16 Great Neck RoadWort( <br /> Nasfpee NA 02649 <br /> Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> Workshop Minutes <br /> Tuesday, October 15, 2019 7:00 pm <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> Mashpee Town Hall, Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> Present: Stephen Marques, Peter Thomas, and Bill Holmes <br /> AQUACULTURE LICENSE APPLICATION and PROCEDURES WORKSHOP <br /> Ashley Fisher presented the current Aquaculture License application,the draft she's currently working <br /> on, and some examples of applications from other towns. <br /> The group discussed the application process and went through, in detail, each question and step on the <br /> application, noting any changes to be made. <br /> They discussed the checklist of steps and procedures that would have to go through the Tax <br /> Collector/Assessor, Harbormaster, and lastly The Shellfish Constable for sign offs. <br /> Stephen Marques:What does the Harbormaster use for guidelines? Moorings? <br /> Ashley Fisher: We don't have approved mooring areas. There's disagreement between the <br /> Harbormaster and Shellfish Constable on determining these areas. <br /> Peter Thomas:A lot of gray area from the Harbormaster. <br /> Stephen Marques:We'd have more strength if we handed them a map. <br /> Bill Holmes: It's an area of conflict. <br /> Peter Thomas:This has to go in order of sign offs, correct? <br /> Ashley Fisher: Yes. The Board of Selectmen/Conservation has to approve the MEP process. After the <br /> Division of Marine Fisheries approves the license)the Town Clerk is the final step once all is completed <br /> and ready to deploy gear.This is meant to be a career path, creating jobs, not for part time job people. <br /> Stephen Marques:They have to have a minimum, right? <br /> Ashley Fisher: They have to fill a report every year. The bar is low at planting 10,000 animals per acre <br /> leased. <br /> Stephen Marques: So they're handed a 15year grant, but don't need to provide how much the get? <br /> Numbers? <br />
