Ashley Fisher: I would like to get sales receipts to show compliance to the minimum requirement.
Peter Thomas: We only have so many acres, it's a Town thing. It makes a lot of sense.
Bill Holmes:This is for new applications, right?
Ashley Fisher: Meet with Constable and Harbormaster with an outline of the area you're interested in.
Stephen Marques: Should we have something to say"the following sign offs need to be completed in
this order" at the beginning and#4 goes at the very end?
Ashley Fisher: It's just a letter...Proof of taxes obligation has been paid in full; proof of Mashpee
residency for at least one year; a map, etc..Steps 8&9 are redundant. The map can have latitude and
longitude and mean high and low water too. Keep it that way?
Everyone:yes.
Ashley Fisher: Mean high and low are so hard to find. Require them to get an engineer?
Peter Thomas:You'd think the Harbormaster would know.
Stephen Marques: I like the sounding better.
Ashley Fisher: Division requires this...
Stephen Marques: May be Shellfish on Harbormaster go out and determine info. We'd have to verify it
anyway. Why not do it all at once?
Ashley Fisher: It's really their job.
Peter Thomas: It is their job.The burden is on them. They'll call if they need help.
Stephen Marques: sounds good.
Ashley Fisher: Step 10 is this. I'll put"see attached example" narrative (description of the project)
inserted here. New applicants by be limited to one acre. They can increase later if they prove to
adequately work the leased site for a period that will be determines. . 20K sq ft or 10%of the total
acreage of floating gear is allowed per leased area per the Army Corps of Engineers. There isn't much
need to go larger unless they plan on using solely bottom gear, and good bottom is hard to find in
Mashpee.
Peter Thomas: We don't know how many acres we have.
Ashley Fisher: Most of our bottom is unsuitable for aquaculture. Most gear will be floating in certain
areas. So only 20k max or 10%or leased area coverage whichever is greater, that's the Army Corps
restriction on floating gear.
Peter Thomas: What is our minimum security requirements?
Ashley Fisher:To have your markers out there. Postings so people know it's an Aquaculture area. Yellow
ball markers well marked.
Peter Thomas: Describe "security better".
Ashley Fisher: Bird deterrent method is going to be a requirement from the state, and the town.
