Ashley Fisher: List of abutters within 300ft of proposed project area: here I want the abutters to be
notified. As it stands, they don't have to notify and I don't think that's right. When we don't notify them
that's when we have problems. Notify them by certified letter?
Letter of approval from Harbormaster...I wanted to include in here "channel proximity might require
additional markings"or something.
Peter Thomas:Shouldn't that be Waterways? I think we should communicate that to Waterways, it's
their purview.
Bill Holmes:The more you put out there the less people pay attention
Peter Thomas: I think this is something we should communicate to Waterways.
Ashley Fisher: Markers are required to have 2inch lettering stating "Shellfish Aquaculture", we should
also require the markers to have the licensed DEP number or grant number too.
Stephen Marques: Does it need to say Aquaculture, why not just Shellfish and the number?
Ashley Fisher: It could say Aquaculture in tin lettering and the license number.
Ashley Fisher: Step 15 I'm just going to add what Rick had under Step 2.
Ashley Fisher:Should we say"letter of review and/or recommendation from Shellfish Commissioner.
Same from Waterways. I added a non-refundable application fee. It's$0 right now.
Bill Holmes: What do you think the time line from start to finish is?
Ashley Fisher: Probably 4-5 years. It's not on the Town, it's on the State. The people who are really
diligent, probably 1-3 years. They fill out the application, once the hearing is set, sent out letter notifying
of public hearing. Letter of recommendation from Board of Selectmen, Division of Marine Fisheries will
schedule shellfish survey with Shellfish Constable. Board of Selectmen will issue Aquaculture License,
applicant pays the fee and applies for Propagation Permit. Must submit the permit prior to ordering
shellfish.
Peter Thomas: Right now if I owned a grant and wanted to buy seed, do I have to prove where I got it?
Where can I buy my seed?Ashley Fisher: It has to be state-approved. Have to submit that info to the
state. You can't purchase seed without a propagation permit.
Additional Topics:
(This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably anticipate would be discussed)
Adjourn Meeting
Stephen Marques motioned to adjourned, Bill Holmes seconded. All in favor. Meeting adjourned at
8:18pm
Respectfully Submitted,
Katrinalwng;-8oard Secretary
