Other meeting minutes are being worked on and <br /> will be available for review soon. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> None <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> • Plastic Straw and Polystyrene Ban Bylaw Articles: Update <br /> There should be provisions in the plastic straw ban for people who require straws due to physical <br /> limitations, and this can be voted on at town meeting. Businesses in town that currently do not use <br /> polystyrene include Cape Cod Coffee and Organic Market, and there may be more. Ginny, Michael, <br /> and Katelyn have prepared speeches for the October Town Meeting to support the polystyrene ban. <br /> Ginny and Katelyn will meet to discuss more talking points. <br /> • Proposed Helium Balloon Ban Bylaw for May 2020 Town Meeting <br /> The deadline for submittal of this ban is February 11, 2020. <br /> • Santuit Pond Water Quality Issues and Possible Mitigation <br /> See"DNR/Estuary Restoration/Shellfish Program: Update"below. <br /> • Cape-Wide Plastic Bottle Ban <br /> Ginny Scharfenberg met with Madhavi Venkatesan, PhD at a Mashpee Environmental Coalition <br /> Meerting, who is proposing a Cape Plastic Bottle Ban, an educational and citizen advocacy initiative to <br /> raise awareness on single-use plastic bottle consumption. Their 2019 goal is to stop all non-emergency <br /> use of plastic bottles in municipalities. The board discussed that it may not be an appropriate time to <br /> bring it up to the Mashpee Board of Selectman in light of the other higher-priority environmental <br /> initiatives and forthcoming expenses, including wastewater funding. We may invite Dr. Venkatesan to <br /> a future EOC meeting. <br /> ACTION ITEMS UPDATE <br /> Mass. Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program (MVP): Update <br /> The MVP Workshop will meet on November 15t'. Volunteer scribes are required. The Hazard <br /> Mitigation Plan from FEMA is used to model the workshop. Lunch will be provided. <br /> Mashpee Greenway and the Quashnet River Footbridges: Update <br /> No update. The chair will ask Mary Waygan for an update for the next meeting. <br />
