Mashpee Shellfish Division along with Falmouth Marine and Environmental Affairs seeded over
70,000 (20 mm) scallops in Waquoit Bay on September 271'. Areas seeded were areas that were
known to be productive in the past from catch reports offered by commercial fisherman from both
Mashpee and Falmouth. The goal is to enhance the family and commercial fishery of a once
plentiful species. Although not part of the CWNMP water quality restoration plan, scallops also
filter algae and remove nitrogen. Opening day for scallops is October the first, and it is forecasted
that this year will also be extremely low compared to past years.
• IMA's with other towns; DRI Review Process: Update
No update.
• Planning and Funding for Wastewater(WW) Management/Sewers: Update
A$250,000 feasibility study for connecting to Joint Base Cape Cod WWTP will occur, as it is unclear if
it is more cost effective to connect completely to the Base.
