A kick-off meeting was held with them on November 5th. Steve Cook attended
as a representative of the Committee. Interviews and site visits were then held with DNR staff
—Director, Harbormaster, Shellfish Constable—on November 25th to help determine the uses of
the facility and the required space needs, both interior and exterior. For evaluation of potential
locations for the facility, the Town provided WSE with a map of all Town-owned properties
greater than 2 acres. Properties already developed with non-compatible uses were excluded,
such as the schools. WSE will perform an initial review of the remaining properties to narrow
the list to 2-3 for more detailed review. These properties will be presented to the
subcommittee for selection of a preferred location along with a draft of the space needs
program for building itself for finalization.
MMHS Athletic Fields Needs Assessment/Master Plan
The subcommittee met with Gale Associates on October 30th and November 14th. Geoff
Gorman attended as a representative of the Committee. The option selected is replacement of
stadium field and track with synthetic surfacing as well as reconfiguration/replacement of the
upper fields with synthetic surfacing. The lower fields would remain grass but some
improvements to them would be included in the project. The upper field reconfiguration will
include the existing baseball field, will add a softball field, and will provide two multi-purpose
fields for soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, and football. The estimated cost is approximately$8
