9 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 2, 2019 <br /> Discussion of Santuit Pond and Strategy to Address Condition: Health Agent Glen Harrington, <br /> Conservation Agent Andrew McManus, Department of Natural Resources Director Richard <br /> York: (continued) <br /> Correspondence from Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent outlined several steps in moving <br /> forward; <br /> Further assessments of the feasibility of dredging and/or aluminum treatments <br /> Bring Sandwich and Barnstable into the discussions <br /> Assess potential road takings within Santuit Pond watershed (all towns) <br /> Public education, outreach and increased warning signage; cyanobacteria outbreaks <br /> Restoration of the town landing at Santuit(stormwater runoff improvements) <br /> Restoration of abandoned 10 acre cranberry bog to be used as a nutrient sink, blocked culvert <br /> Continue to work and support the Friends of Santuit Pond and the stewardship group <br /> Strict enforcement to stop use of phosphorus fertilizers and detergents <br /> Review of Algix <br /> Is it possible to advance permitting to use the County long arm dredge to speed the process <br /> Pursue grant opportunities to restore abandoned cranberry bogs to wetlands,partner with Town <br /> of Barnstable, Fish& Wildlife Service, Habitat Improvement Project. <br /> Advance sewering in this area to support dredging <br /> The Board of Selectmen endorsed the above referenced steps in moving forward. <br /> Town Manager Rodney C. Collins was tasked to develop an Action Plan, and short term <br /> recommendations for adoption as well as articles to be considered for the May Town Meeting. <br /> This matter will be discussed by the Board of Selectmen in January. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Discussion and Approval of Resignation from the Board of Health; (Term Expires: June 30, <br /> 2020): Laurel Almquist: <br /> The Board of Selectmen was in receipt of a Letter of Resignation from Laurel Almquist dated <br /> November 18, 2019 resigning from the Board of Health. The term of the appointment is due to <br /> expire on June 30, 2020. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to accept the Letter of Resignation from Laurel <br /> Almquist from the Board of Health with regret sending a letter of appreciation to Ms. <br /> Almquist for her dedicated service to the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Weeden,yes Opposed, none <br />
