5 <br /> Board of'Selectmen <br /> Minutes. <br /> January 6, 2020 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Discussion and Possible Modification to the New Bedford Waste Services Contract: <br /> Town Manager Rodney Collins: (continued) <br /> The current tip fee is $59.23 per ton, and the cost increases have fluctuated rigorously since August of <br /> 2019. Mr. Camera indicated he will not be making a profit with the price increase and he assured the <br /> Selectmen the Town would receive improved communication and supportive information including <br /> invoices. When NBWS began negotiating with the Town for disposal sites in Massachusetts the rates <br /> were unknown. Mr. Camera stated he has,been reviewing costs in multiple states and desires to bring <br /> forth a specific program in place for the disposal of Mashpee's Waste that.is not disruptive to the <br /> -community. <br /> As the discussion continued, it was agreed the matter of solid waste disposal is affecting the entire <br /> country and there is little control. New Bedford Waste Services was requested to hold the tip fee price <br /> increase for one year. Mr. Camera was in agreement to hold the $93.75 per ton increase from January 1, <br /> 2020 to January 1, 2021, and if possible a revised-agreement would be made during this time at a lower <br /> price. The Board was supportive and.motion as follows; <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to approve the waste Disposal Agreement to increase the tip <br /> fee to $93.75 per ton for a period of(1)year effective January 1, 2020 with the stipulation there <br /> shall be no other price increases. The Town Manager is.authorized to execute the modification of <br /> contract on behalf of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call vote: <br /> Selectman Gottlieb, yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes opposed, none <br /> U date on Request to Meet with the Mash pee Water District Commissioners: <br /> The Board of Selectmen previously-authorized the Town Manager to request a meeting with the Water <br /> District to continue discussions on the matter of wastewater. Town Manager Rodney C. Collins <br /> conveyed the Water District does not wish to meet with the Board of Selectmen as the nature of the <br /> wastewater conversation has been addressed and there its no desire to continue discussions. <br /> The Board of Selectmen expressed an interest in attending the next Water.District Meeting, and invited <br /> the general public to attend as well to initiative further discussion regarding the matter of wastewater. <br />
