(continued) After the matter was debated Mr. Smith indicated he did not realize the Shellfish Constable was against the proposed aquaculture grant application. Mr. Smith indicated he would not be taking seed from other locations and he would not have applied for the grant if the opposition was made known to him. Being no further comment, the Board motioned to close the Public Hearing. Motion made by Selectman Sherman-to close the Public Hearing. Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton, VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. Roll Call Vote: Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Weeden,yes opposed, none Motion,trade by Selectman Cotton to deny the New Shellfish Aquaculture License (Shellfish Grant) application of Thomas F. Smith, Great River oyster Company,226 Monomoscoy Road,Mashpee. Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. Roll Call Vote: Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Weeden,yes opposed, none Presentation by Project FORWARD,-,, The Board of Selectmen met with Kathy Ohman and David Kaplan of FORWARD (Friends or Relatives with Autism and Related Disabilities) at the Rock to review their application approved by the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) for $40,000 in CPA funding at the May 2020 Special Town Meeting. Last year, FORWARD submitted an application to the CPC for $100,000, and it was reduced to $50,000. Funds would assist with the construction of new affordable housing units for adults 22 years and older with Autism who might otherwise be at risk for.homelessness or who may be currently living at substandard situations. The CPC was noted to have supported the application last year, but it was removed from the warrant by the Board of Selectmen. Ms. Ohman indicated she is pleased.the resubmittal has been approved by the CPC for funding at the May 2020 Special Town Meeting. The project will help to address the immediate regional need to provide more appropriate purpose-built affordable and supportive housing for the growing and underserved population of adults with developmental disabilities. The project to construct two homes, eight units of affordable housing began six years ago. The Town of Dennis generously donated 5 acres of land and committed$500,000 toward the project.. Other CPC partners include the Towns of Barnstable, Yarmouth, Chatham. and Brewster as well as funding assistance from the Housing Assistance Corporation(HAQ, Cape Abilities and though State grants and private contributions.
