*APPROVED 3-2-2020* <br /> Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 15, 2020 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS (con't) <br /> Department of Public Works FY2021 CIP Request: $275,950 <br /> Catherine Laurent, Director of the Department of Public Works (DPW) presented a budget of <br /> capital requests for fiscal year 2021 there are prior year obligations for the DPW in the CIP of <br /> $76,950 for the 2018 CAT Loader . The DPW Director stated that each year the Department <br /> evaluates the fleet and then prioritizes the vehicles and equipment for replacement. This year, <br /> there are two 2012 F350 being replaced. <br /> 2018 Cat Loader Year 3 of 3 Year Lease/Purchase Total Funds: $76,950 <br /> (FY19-$75,000, FY20$76,950, FY21-$76,950) <br /> This will fund year three of a three year lease.The Committee had no questions. <br /> Replacement of two F350 Trucks @$48,000 each Purchase Total Funds:$96,000 <br /> Replacement of 2004 Kubota Tractor Purchase Total Funds:$45,000 <br /> Replacement of 2012 John Deere Mower Purchase Total Funds:$58,000 <br /> Ms. Laurent stated that the above vehicles are just continuing a general replacement cycle for <br /> vehicles and equipment.The Committee had no questions. <br /> Transfer Station FY2021 CIP Request: $200,000 <br /> Catherine Laurent, Director of the Department of Public Works (DPW) presented a budget of <br /> capital requests for fiscal year 2021 for drainage repair and a license plate reader for the transfer <br /> station.This is the first year that the Transfer Station has been listed separately, due to its unique <br /> requests. <br /> Drainage Repair Total Funds:$200,000 <br /> The Transfer Station has ongoing drainage issues due to a cracked pipe and water is going into the <br /> capped landfill, causing settling that could in turn could affect the landfill cover Mr. Collins asked <br /> if Town staff could fix the problem.The DPW Director stated that the Town's equipment can't do <br /> it and it must be contracted, also, DEP permits must be obtained and an engineer needs to be on <br /> site. Mr.Gottlieb asked if there has been contamination from the leak, Ms. Laurent said that there <br /> has not according to the Board of Health.There were also questions about locating the crack as it <br /> is under the roadway. Mr. Richardson said this has to be done before more damage occurs. Mr. <br /> Gottlieb asked if the projected cost included a contingency for unforeseen costs. Ms. Laurent <br /> answered that the engineer estimated between one hundred fifty and two hundred thousand <br /> dollars, so the larger number is being used. <br /> 8 <br />
