*APPROVED 3-2-2020*
Capital Improvement Program Committee
Minutes
January 15, 2020
APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS (con't)
Planning and Construction (con't)
KCC Vestibule $100,000
School Security Improvements $125,000
These items were discussed together as the vestibule at the Coombs School does not allow for a
disabled person to enter the building in between the double locking doors that would be installed
with this project. The other items for school security would complete the installation of cameras
at the Coombs School and the High School and would also have "fobs" for personnel to enter the
buildings. The CIP Committee had no further concerns or questions.
MMHS Air Handling Unit#1 Replacement $50,000
Catherine Laurent said that currently some of the interior rooms in the C Wing of the MMHS get
unbearably hot and it is recommended that a new air handling unit be installed. The Committee
had no questions.
MMHS Culinary Arts Room Exhaust System $25,000
The MMHS Culinary Arts Room needs an external exhaust system installed as the four gas ranges
in the room have only inefficient internal hood fans. The Committee had no questions.
MMHS Library HVAC Sound Dampening $75,000
When the High School Library was built the ceiling is industrial looking with all of the duct work,
etc. exposed and this makes the Library very loud when the heating or cooling systems are
running. This project would install a dropped ceiling to dampen the sound and make the area
much quieter. The ceiling would still be quite high. The Committee had no questions.
Flooring Replacement(Various Buildings) $50,000
Ms. Laurent explained that this the annual amount requested to replace flooring in various
buildings in the Town. Support was expressed by the CCIP Committee to continue this project for
FY 2021
MMHS Library Flooring Replacement $55,000
The DPW Director said that this was requested by the school to install vinyl floor planking that is
more practical and less maintenance, etc. in the High School Library. There were no questions
from the Committee.
7
