August 18, 2020 <br /> RE: adoption of banning sale of alcohol nips <br /> To the Mashpee Board of Selectman <br /> As the Business owner of Liberty Liquors,, 4 North Market Street,. Mashpee please <br /> accept this letter in response to the potential ban of alcohol nips (50mis} in the <br /> town to be held on Monday August 24, 2020. <br /> 1 have been a responsible business leader in this community for over 25 years <br /> and have employed many people in the town and have always done my share to <br /> do the right thing on behalf of our beautiful town of Mashpee,, but I would like to <br /> take this opportunity to express my feelings towards the possible banning of the <br /> sale of alcohol nips (50m1) in the town. <br /> First and fore most my number one concern is for the safety of our community as <br /> well as our customers and environment. <br /> I understand that trash and littering is a major concern of the town and its <br /> authorities, especially in our wooded trails, woods and paths, but trash being the <br /> issue is much more Wide spread than just nips.and why as liquor store retailers <br /> should we be financially singled out and burdened versus other local businesses <br /> such as Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Cumberland Farms or any other fast <br /> food/convenience store which we see their trash strewn among our local streets. <br /> If trash is really the issue why can we not implement a statewide reform as Randy <br /> Hunt from Sandwich proposed and implement a .25 deposit on nips? Also, if we <br /> have such a large trash issue in the town why not implement using our local <br /> correctional facilities to help facilitate in cleaning it up.? And do we really see any <br /> nips on the sides of our roads or just wooded areas?? I travel every day from <br /> Sandwich to Mashpee to go to work and see none. I also feel that this issue has <br />
