4
something.? Or what if I only need a nip for a recipe? And with that being-said,
due to the current Pandemic our economic dichotomy now has changed
dramatically and our unemployment is at its highest and people are now on strict
budgets and can only afford so much, so I do not believe it's fair to take away the
people's choice. Customers who purchase other items also purchase nips and if
they become unavailable to them retailers could potentially lose entire sales.
I also feel that as a local retailer for the last 26 years we as retailers who pay
thousands of dollars in taxes and fees and who are abiding citizens of the town
will lose 100s of thousands of dollars to abutting towns like Falmouth and Cotuit
etc, because consumers will travel for their products and what they want.
If trash is what we really want to clean up then we should, but not solely
financially burden local liquor stores who are stand up businesses/ citizens of the
Town of Mashpee. We should come together as a community with other solutions
to rectify the situation then take away sales/business from local retailers who
have given back to our community for years.,
Lastly, I do strongly believe in keeping our community clean and free from all
litter but I do not believe that other towns will follow suit and banning nips is not
a fool proof way of rectifying our trash issue. I would also ask the board to
reconsider their thoughts on the ban based on the fact that during these
struggling times NOT to take sales from local businesses but to give back and help
bring jobs back to our community
We are all in this together and as one we can make a difference a 0 Ithough I also do
not want to see a potential legal battle created from distributors and store
owners against the town that could be costly which is currently brewing in
Chelsea on a BATF Federally legal-size*
