6 Board of Selectmen Minutes July 27, 2020 APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS Discussion and Approval of Appointment to the Following: Conservation Commission Associate Member (Term to Expire June 30 2021): Brian Weeden: For disclosure Selectman David W. Weeden indicated he is related to the applicant Brian Weeden who is seeking membership to the Conservation Commission. Correspondence was received from Brian Weeden dated July 13, 2020 requesting to be considered for appointment to the Conservation Commission as an Associate Member. The referenced appointment was placed on hold as the applicant having recently become aware of the vacancy created by the resignation of Dale McKay verbally expressed an interest in the Member-at-Large status. Motion made by Selectman Weeden to table the appointment to the next meeting. Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. Roll Call Vote: Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Weeden,yes Opposed, none Discussion and Approval of Host Community Agreement Authorization for the Town Manager to Execute the Agreement and Authorization of Virtual Web-Based Community Outreach Meeting: Nicholas Gomes Esquire; Tree Beard d/b/a Old Soul Gardens: The Board of Selectmen met with Attorney Nick Gomes and Jeff Pepi, Tree Beard representatives to discuss their intention to operate a marijuana establishment involving marijuana product manufacturing, delivery and transportation at 800 Falmouth Road, Unit 104-E, Mashpee. This was a virtual web-based community outreach meeting to present the project to the Board of Selectmen and to obtain feedback. Attorney Nicholas Gomes facilitated the meeting on behalf of Tree Beard d/b/a Old Soul Gardens to review the project proposal. Old Soul Gardens is an independent economic empowerment craft company comprised of the following membership; Jeffrey G. Pepi, President Job Roach, Chief Operations Officer Hans Doherty, Chief Marketing Officer Joshua R. Craig, Master Cultivator Daphney Bosscoit-Williams, Leona Leaver, Directors of Transportation/Delivery Nicholas A. Gomes, Esquire, Chief Legal Counsel. Tree Beard is comprised of a small group of business owners, experienced in this field from the New Bedford, MA area with hopes to develop economic empowerment. The proposed establishment is not intended for use as a medical dispensary. It is intended for the adult use of marijuana. The location is convenient and secure in close proximity to emergency services. The site location for the proposed facility was chosen due to its low impact to the Town.
