*DRAFT BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES JUNE 29, 2020* 9
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
June 29, 2020
OLD BUSINESS
V4,,Idate Discussion and Possible Action Relative to COVID-19:
.........................
Town Manager Rodney C. Collins indicated that he held a Department Head meeting last Wednesday
to discuss the gradual reopening of the Mashpee Town Hall. It is necessary to conduct several safety
measures prior to the opening of town hall for public access. Protocols to be required include facial
coverings and adherence to social distancing. Currently, it is projected the Mashpee Town Hall could
possibly reopen in mid-July starting by appointment only.
The Town of Mashpee has received $420,494 in COVID-19 reimbursement monies.
This week the Town Manager is scheduled to meet with the School Superintendent and Director of
Public Works to review the necessities associated to the reopening of the Mashpee Schools. This is an
operational meeting. If a Selectman member desires to attend this meeting a School Committee
member would be present as well. Selectman Cotton is amenable to attend this meeting on behalf of
the Board of Selectmen if a School Committee member is interested in attending.
In other-business, it was noted there has been a larger than normal volume of-permitting requests.
Town Manager Collins indicated he has advised the Town Clerk that additional staff members would
serve as a resource to assist the Town Clerk as necessary with sticker sales and certain public needs
would be addressed where appropriate.
In streamlining sticker sales, it was highly recommended the Town consider purchasing plate readers
for the Transfer Station. The advantages were briefly discussed and the Town Manager'was
supportive and agreed to conduct additional research for continued review.- If the burden is too
cumbersome, Transfer Station permits may be moved to a different department.
mm Discussion of Current, antertainment Licenses Turin s2 the COVID-19 Pandemic:
Correspondence was received from. Stephanie Coleman, Administrative Secretary dated June 25,
2020 relative to several inquiries received regarding the current Entertainment Licenses held by
establishments in the Town of Mashpee.
In accordance with Phase 11 of the Commonwealth's Reopening Plan restaurants must comply with
the following social distance rule in all customer seating areas:
All other amenities and areas not employed for food and beverage service (dance floors, pool
tables, playgrounds, etc.) must be closed or removed to prevent the gathering of customers.
Some restaurants have requested to play canned music and acoustical music as an addition to their
Entertainment License. This in not authorized on the existing and permitted licenses.'therefore a
Public Hearing would be required to approve such an amendment. The.matter was taken under
advisement. There was no further action at this time.
