5 <br /> Finance Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> August 20, 2020 <br /> Review and possible action on Draft#2 of the Annual Town Meeting Warrant of Monday, <br /> October 19, 2020: <br /> Article#4—To transfer funds; $28,000 collected from the sale of cemetery plots in the Great <br /> Neck Woods Cemetery Reserve Receipt Account to the Cemetery Operating Expense Account. <br /> Motion made by Mr. McKelvey to approve and recommend Article#4 of the October <br /> Annual Town Meeting warrant. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Miller. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 6-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Richardson,yes Mr. Pettengill,yes Mr. McKelvey,yes <br /> Mr. McCahill,yes Mrs. Furbush,yes Mr. Miller,yes <br /> Opposed, none <br /> Article#5, #6, #7, and#8 —To fund negotiated adjustments to contracts. HELD <br /> Article#9—To urge residents to join efforts to reduce the town's vulnerability to climate change. <br /> It was noted this was a former petition article that is now sponsored by the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Clarity was requested on whether the Board of Selectmen will advocate for this article, or if the <br /> Selectmen would yield the petitioner to discuss the intent of this article. A brief discussion <br /> followed. It was noted that other Cape communities are supporting this action. HELD <br /> Motion made by Mr. McKelvey to HOLD Article#9. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Miller. <br /> VOTE: 5-1. Motion carries. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Richardson, no Mr. Pettengill,yes Mr. McKelvey,yes <br /> Mr. McCahill,yes Mrs. Furbush,yes Mr. Miller,yes <br /> Opposed, (1) <br /> Article#10—To prohibit any single use plastic containers on town property. It was noted this <br /> was a former petition article that is now sponsored by the Board of Selectmen. This may be the <br /> first step to banning all plastic bottles in Mashpee. If water fountains are not working properly it <br /> was recommended that an alternative be considered to provide water for the public.
