As long as I have lived here (granted, only 3 years) there has NEVER been a sign there. The
danger is merely obvious in very low water when neighbors pile rocks in the center of the island to alert
boaters. Ms. Fisher called me just as I finished reading the report to make sure I got her email—I
appreciated that. When I told her there was no signage as the report recommended in 1989,she said
she was unaware and would work on that. So this makes me wonder how she or the DNR office can say
anything about the activities on the pond when they clearly have never been in the pond area (at least
since 2017)to see it!
Water Quality- I then reviewed the list of linked documents she sent about water quality. Although
many of the reports showed sets of data regarding groundwater sampling, none showed trend charts for
easy year-over-year comparisons. As you can expect, just like the 1989 report, all mentioned the source
of contamination from secondarily treated sewage that has been discharged from Massachusetts
Military Reservation (MMR) into rapid-infiltration sand beds since 1936. BUT, not a single report I read
mentioned jet skis or any water motor craft as a contributor.
Recreational Interest-One of the reports I found, attached, was from 2014 and was written by the
University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute for the Cape Cod Commission, based on a survey of
homeowners on the Cape. The report summary states:
3
