40
Report of the Board of Health
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and
Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
The Board of Health hereby submits their annual report
for the year, nineteen -hundred sixty-five.
The co-operation of the townspeople, in recognizing the
duties of the Board, has added greatly to the successful ac-
complishments made during this year.
On the occasion of Clean-up Week, a good many of the
unsightly uninhabitable dwellings were demolished, such as
burned, decayed and abandoned homesites. Rubbish pick-up
was accepted during this week by a majority of the citizens.
Clean-up week will be held in May, 1966.
Ferdinand Mills and Norman Foster have accomplished,
what we think is a beginning of an answer to our Disposal
area problems, by policing this area seven days a week. With
the acceptance by the citizens of our regulations, and, even-
tually, with the custodians sincere concern, our disposal area
will finally show a greater improvement. A more effective
disposal sticker control will become effective in 1966. All com-
mercial disposal trucks will be required to have disposal per-
mits in each truck. Due to the excessive drought this year,
intensive bulldozing became necessary for fire prevention in
this area.
Curtis Hendricks, our newly appointed health agent is
busy trying to keep up with the mushrooming developments
in town. We, as well as Mr. Hendricks, have learned more
than once, that the Sanitary Code is comprised of far more
than cesspools and septic tanks. This year we have been
approached with more problems concerning the co-operation
of persons holding Common Victuallers licenses, who do not
seem to realize the importance of CLEANLINESS! ! !
