42
Report of the Public Health Nurse
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
The year of 1965 was my fourth complete year as Public
Health Nurse in Mashpee. As in the preceding years, it was
an enjoyable working experience.
More than seven hundred visits were made to homes in
the community and the usual procedures were followed at
Samuel G. Davis School.
The Dental Clinic at Dr. Crawford's office in Cotuit cared
for 33 pupils in need of fillings or extractions.
Dr. Paul Jaques, M. D., examined a total of 76 children
of grades 2, 4, and 6 for possible physical defects.
Booster shots for Diphtheria, Pertussis and Tetanus, were
given by him to those pupils of grades one and five whose
parents permitted.
Our annual immunization clinics for pre-school children
showed excellent interest and attendance in the Spring.
With the exception of the large outbreak of Rubella,
(German Measles), last Winter, there has been no widespread
incidence of contagion. We have generally been blessed with
good health.
I wish to thank the members of the Board of Health, Dr.
Paul Jaques, and all associates of the School, Welfare, and
County Health Departments, whose willing assistance has
been of great value to me, this year as in past years.
Respectfully submitted,
CAROL S. McLANE, R. N.,
Public Health Nurse
