9
Report of the Board of Selectmen
The Board of Selectmen submit the following report
to the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee for the year
ending December 31, 1966:
Building construction within the Town still continues at
a rapid pace. This development has been steady and has cre-
ated a desirable and healthy influence on our economy and
tax structure. Some of the structures erected at the Rotary
Circle shopping center should be ready and open for business
this coming spring. Creation of the new light industrial area
should also benefit our citizens by creating new year-round
jobs.
The new library with landscaping has been completed
and should be open on a regularly scheduled basis soon.
A portion •of sidewalk was constructed and paved by the
highway department on Great Neck Road.
Meetinghouse Road under Chapter 90 construction has
been nearly completed. Upon completion of this project we
hope to undertake the construction of Seconset Island Road
as our next venture.
Chapter 81 highway projects were completed and speed
control signs have been ordered and will be erected as soon
as received. Traffic control laws have been approved. A con-
tract was awarded for the painting of traffic lines and cross
walk lines have been completed. DeGrasse Road was laid out
as a Town public way as authorized.
Street lights were installed at the various locations as
requested. The Christmas lighting at the Rotary Circle was
also set up and displayed, with some added attractions. Con-
tracts were awarded for a new police cruiser and fire truck
chassis. Also the contract for building and equipping the
new fire truck has been awarded.
