9 <br />Report of the Board of Selectmen <br />The Board of Selectmen submit the following report <br />to the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee for the year <br />ending December 31, 1966: <br />Building construction within the Town still continues at <br />a rapid pace. This development has been steady and has cre- <br />ated a desirable and healthy influence on our economy and <br />tax structure. Some of the structures erected at the Rotary <br />Circle shopping center should be ready and open for business <br />this coming spring. Creation of the new light industrial area <br />should also benefit our citizens by creating new year-round <br />jobs. <br />The new library with landscaping has been completed <br />and should be open on a regularly scheduled basis soon. <br />A portion •of sidewalk was constructed and paved by the <br />highway department on Great Neck Road. <br />Meetinghouse Road under Chapter 90 construction has <br />been nearly completed. Upon completion of this project we <br />hope to undertake the construction of Seconset Island Road <br />as our next venture. <br />Chapter 81 highway projects were completed and speed <br />control signs have been ordered and will be erected as soon <br />as received. Traffic control laws have been approved. A con- <br />tract was awarded for the painting of traffic lines and cross <br />walk lines have been completed. DeGrasse Road was laid out <br />as a Town public way as authorized. <br />Street lights were installed at the various locations as <br />requested. The Christmas lighting at the Rotary Circle was <br />also set up and displayed, with some added attractions. Con- <br />tracts were awarded for a new police cruiser and fire truck <br />chassis. Also the contract for building and equipping the <br />new fire truck has been awarded. <br />
