10
Office equipment for the Selectmen's office was pur.
chased as authorized. A long range planning committee and
various other personnel were appointed as instructed.
The contract for the Mill Pond Flume at the Herring Run
on Route 130 was awarded and the work completed. The Mill
Pond was cleaned up and the general area cleaned and
graded. With cooperation of the Highway Department a
guard rail fence was furnished and erected. The Health De-
partment also cleaned the river out while it was dry. We are
requesting funds to landscape and pave a parking area at the
flume in 1967. We have been commended by the Department
of Natural Resources, Division of Marine Fisheries, for the
excellent job that was done at the Flume and river.
The Division of Fisheries and Game have notified the
Board that they expect to put in a paved road, parking lot,
and ramp at the Fishermen's Landing on Mashpee Lake.
The case of the Planning Board versus the American
Central Company, developers of land at Ashumet and John's
Pond, was tried in Superior Court and the verdict was in
favor of the developers. Litigation is still pending in Superior
Court on the Anderson -Donato versus the Town of Mashpee
case, involving land and structures on Seconset Island Cause-
way.
The District Court case of John B. Murphy versus Patrol-
man Linwood Pond for false arrest was tried and dismissed.
Bayside and Riverside Roads on Seconset Island were
staked out, and also the ball fields at Town Hall and the
school house grounds were surveyed by the Town Engineer.
Awards totalling $80.00 were paid out for damages on
Meetinghouse Road this year. Easements and plans were re-
corded at the Registry of Deeds.
We are again recommending an appropriation of
$25,000.00 this year for the Stabilization Fund to help finance
our future municipal building needs. We are also recom-
mending an appropriation for construction of a comfort sta-
tion and paved road and parking area at the Town owned
portion of South Cape Beach.
M
