M-
9
landing appraised .as there will be a need for more parking
space when the landing is completed.
The case of Mashpee versus Zinkewich and Quinn, devel-
opers of Johns Pond Estates, was tried in District Court and
the verdict was found in favor of the town.
We again this year will ask the townspeople to appropri-
ate $30,000.00 for the Stabilization Fund as our need for new
municipal buildings increases, as the report of the Municipal
Building Needs Committee indicates.
We have contacted our Senator and State Representative
as to the filing of a bill to abolish the Mashpee Advisory
Commission, a hearing was held at the State House in Janu-
ary of this year. The town was well represented not only by
our elected officials but by many of our civic minded citizens
who should be commended for this fine display of civic pride.
We were well received by the Legislative Committee and are
confidant of a favorable vote by the General Court later in
the year when we will again become a prideful :and self gov-
erning municipality within the Commonwealth.
The great strides that have been made in all areas of
Town government would not have been possible without the
full cooperation and devotion to duty that has been shown
by all town officials in every department, all those who have
served in an advisory capacity, and the cooperation of a dedi-
cated citizenry. For this your Board is sincerely appreciative.
Respectfully submitted,
FRANK E. HICKS, Chairman
LEO C. SWEENEY
KEVIN D. O'CONNELL
