7.4 <br /> 8 <br /> s <br /> Deport of the Board of Selectmen <br /> The Board of Selectmen submit the following report <br /> to the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee for the year <br /> ending December 31, 1968: <br /> + Again as in the past few years,people in increasing num- <br /> bers are finding Mashpee an attractive community in which <br /> to live, with our building construction continuing at a rapid <br /> pace with more than $1,500,000.00 in new construction com- <br /> pleted this year. <br /> The first half of the Seconset Island Road project under <br /> Chapter 90 has been completed and the project is expected to <br /> be accomplished this year. <br /> Chapter 81 highway projects were completed, and traf- <br /> fic lights at the school crossing have .been ordered and should <br /> be installed this year. The second half of the sidewalk project <br /> on Great Neck Road has been completed. Street lights were <br /> installed as requested and our Christmas lights were dis- <br /> played as usual at the Mashpee Rotary Circle. <br /> During the past year a new cruiser sedan for the Police <br /> Dept., a four wheel drive pick-up truck for the Fire Dept., and <br /> a new dump truck for the Highway Dept. were purchased. <br /> We also have retained possession of our 1967 cruiser which <br /> I' was needed due to the increase of personnel on the Dept. A <br /> new radio for the Police Dept. has been installed, and a Civil <br /> Defense Warning System was also purchased which is now in <br /> the process of installation. <br /> Work on the State Fishermans Landing on Mashpee <br /> Pond has been completed and we now have within the con- <br /> fines of our town the finest landing of its kind in the entire <br /> state. <br /> j The two parcels of land on Mashpee Neck have been ap- <br /> praised for use as a boat landing and we have reached an <br /> agreement as to the cost with one of the owners and are <br /> contemplating reaching an agreement on the other parcel in <br /> the near future. The Selectmen would hope that the towns- <br /> people will vote to purchase these lots this year.
