7
_ Wellfleet Jobcorpsmen, (now deactivated). Progress has been
extremely slow because of lack of funds, despite volunteer
labor from a number of citizens, Cape Cod Preparatory
School Students, and Boy Scouts of Cape Cod. Application
has been_made to the State for assistance with our Nature
Center Project. No response to date. Requests were made for
the return of lands presently held by the Department of
Mass. Fisheries and Game which abut the park land. Per-
mission has been granted to use fifteen acres of this land
for purpose so mentioned, however, nothing concrete, such
as an Easement or Deed has been given to the Town.
An application has been made to the Department of
Housing and Urban Development under the Historical Pres-
ervation Act for funding the restoration of the structure to
be used as the first Mashpee Museum. The town having voted
as its participating share $12,000 plus certain Inkind services
and materials.,The funding will apply to restoration only.
Expenditures for such as cost of moving displays from other
museums, display cases, Audio-Visual Aid Set-up, Insurance
etc., are not included. The following papers will list our
sources of materials. It is our desire to open this museum
during the celebration. No fee will be charged, but donations I
will be accepted. Upon completion of funding by town and
H.U.D. the property will be owned by the Town of Mashpee
under the direct supervision of the Historic Commission. ,
' i
Respectfully submitted,
AMELIA G.
