7 7-7771 <br /> Para. 1, The Board of Selectmen annually, and subsequent to the <br /> annual Town Meeting shall appoint a Building Inspector to hold office for K . <br /> the term of one year following, and until his successor is appointed and <br /> qualified. <br /> Para. 2. To be eligible to appointment , the Building Inspector <br /> shall be generally informed as to the quality and strength of building- <br /> materials , <br /> uildingmaterials , the prevailing methods of building construction, good practice <br /> in .fire prevention, the accepted requirements for safe facilities , and <br /> shall have a general knowledge of the installation of plumbing, electric <br /> wiring, elevators and other installations for the safety, comfort and <br /> convenience of occupants . He shall be capable of making the necessary <br /> examinations and inspections of buildings in the course of construction. <br /> He shall not have any interest whatever, directly or indirectly, in the <br /> sale or manufacture of any material, process or device entering into or <br /> us-ed in or in connection with building construction, an d shall not be <br /> engaged in the building trades on his own account or as a contractor. <br /> y I� <br /> Para. 3 . He shall be under the supervision of the Board of Selectmen <br /> and he shall be subject to such rules and regulations as they maNr prescribe <br /> for the proper conduct of this office . He shall submit .an annual report µ" <br /> in December of each year of his office for publication in the Town Report . <br /> =r <br /> Para. 4. The person appointed Building Inspector shall receive such <br /> salary or compensation as shall be fixed by the Board of Selectmen within <br /> the appropriation for the Building Inspector. <br /> i <br /> Para. 5 . The Building Ipspector shall make inspection of all building <br /> operations covered by this code , and he may, for these purposes , enter at <br /> all reasonable times upon the premises where such operations are carried <br /> on, and shall report to the Board of Selectmen all violations of this code , <br /> or of any permit issued. <br /> Para. 6 . The Building Inspector in the name of the Town may take <br /> measures as public safety requires to carry these by-laws into effect . <br /> , Section 11. Fees for permits . <br /> Para. 1 . Fees for permits under this shall be paid to the Building <br /> Inspector for use of the Town in accordance with the following schedule ; <br /> (1) for s ngle , family dwellings with estimated cost riot exceeding `,'5 ,GUO. , <br /> $5 .00 and s'1.00 additional for each $1,000 of estimated cost above :5 ,000. <br /> (2) for separate garage buildings : singlecar garage , $2 .00 and ','l.00 <br /> additional for each additional car space per car:{ " <br /> e . ( 3 ) For all comrr;er- <br /> cial building, with estimated cost not exceeding 5 ,000: $5 .00, and $1.00 <br /> additional for each additional, ';1,000 of estimated. cost above '5 ,GOO- <br /> (4) For all other buildings with estimated cost not exceeding $2,000: <br /> Y'2.00 and $1.00, additional for each additional $1,000 of estimated cost. <br /> above $2,000 . ( 5 ) For all other alterations and repairs with estimated <br /> cost not exceeding $1 000: $1.00 and $1.00 additonal for each $1,000 of <br /> estimated cost above '1,000.
