Mashpee Inclusion & Diversity Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> March 10, 2020 at 10:00 am <br /> Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Government and Committee Center <br /> 483 Great Neck Road South <br /> Present: Vice Chairwoman Winnie Johnson-Graham, JoAnn Nadeau, Lynne Waterman, Richard <br /> Klein, Mohamad Fand <br /> Absent: Chairwoman J. Marie Stevenson, Gail Wilson, Patty DeBoer, Susan Wilson, William Baker <br /> (Non-Voting), Cheyenne Hendricks (Non-Voting) <br /> Also Absent: Selectman Liaison John Cotton, Human Resource Director Kim Landry <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> In the absence of the Chair,the meeting was called to order by Vice Chairwoman Johnson-Graham at <br /> 10:00 a.m. with a quorum. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES February 4,2020 <br /> MOTION: A motion was made by Ms. Waterman to approve the minutes as written. Ms. <br /> Nadeau seconded the motion. All voted unanimously. <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> The Committee welcomed new members, Mr. Fand and Mr. Klein. Mr. Klein noted that he had not yet <br /> been sworn in, but would be doing so after the meeting. A discussion followed regarding whether or <br /> not a quorum was met since Mr. Klein had been appointed, but not yet sworn in. The Vice Chair <br /> contacted the Town Clerk who confirmed that Mr. Klein's appointment allowed quorum to be met. <br /> Mr. Klein would be sworn in following the meeting. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Response to Stephanie Simpson, Potential Membership-Committee members were unaware <br /> of the status, but it was believed there currently were no openings on the Committee. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> None at this time. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Brochure-The Vice Chair reported that requests had been received for additional copies of the <br /> brochure. In the next printing of the brochure, the Vice Chair asked that Tribal Council be changed to <br /> read Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Government and Community Center. In addition, as she had <br /> requested previously, it was the Vice Chair's preference that Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal and <br /> Community Center be listed at the top, ahead of NAACP and Cape Verdean Club, as those <br /> organizations were not located in Mashpee. The Vice Chair added that the Center was open to the <br /> public and for use by the community. The Vice Chair also heard good feedback regarding the diversity <br /> depicted on the cover of the brochure. More copies of the brochure were needed for distribution. <br /> Human Rights Club-The Vice Chair reported that she had been in contact with the school, <br /> suggesting that the program be Diversity Week and open to all students. The Vice Chair felt that it <br /> would be an opportunity to share more about the Wampanoag culture. Ms. Nadeau suggested that the <br /> Committee could begin planning their role in the program for next year and formally commit to that <br /> role. The Vice Chair added that student feedback was positive regarding the day. The Vice Chair also <br /> expressed interest in being involved in the Human Rights Club, as she currently worked very closely in <br />
