The Vice Chair shared other ideas, such as attracting more <br /> diverse teachers to Mashpee schools. <br /> Member Sharing, Ms. Nadeau-Ms. Nadeau reported that she was asked to attend the Woods <br /> Hole Diversity Advisory Committee meeting on February 2. Ms. Nadeau reported that there were <br /> other groups in attendance, each of whom shared the history of their groups. Ms. Nadeau shared the <br /> MIDC brochure and the Committee's accomplishments. There had been discussion regarding their <br /> upcoming Juneteenth program, and interest in working collaboratively. More information would be <br /> forwarded to Chairwoman Stevenson. <br /> Report for Town Meeting-No update <br /> Feedback Last Meeting-The Vice Chair appreciated learning more about other groups and <br /> their efforts here on Cape. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> New Project Ideas, Mr. Fand & Mr. Klein-Mr. Fand suggested celebrating Earth Day, such <br /> as the Wake Up the Earth Festival held in Jamaica Plain. The event is held on public land with food, <br /> vendor tents and games. Mr. Fand looked into the possibility of a similar program in Mashpee, but <br /> found some challenges, including the need for police, parking issues, sanitation and trash. Mr. Fand <br /> discussed the inclusion of a massed dance as part of the program. The Vice Chair responded that the <br /> Community Center would be able to coordinate this type of an event because the Tribe had much of <br /> the resources needed. Ms. Nadeau suggested considering whether such an event might fit with <br /> Diversity Week and whether there would be other groups to collaborate. Mr. Klein also suggested the <br /> inclusion of diversity with Earth Day, adding that the Committee could seek sponsorships with local <br /> businesses to offset costs. <br /> ADDITIONAL TOPICS <br /> The Vice Chair announced that she would be rescheduling the basketball game she had established in <br /> memory of her sister and would be working on the final details. A Mashpee Osterville Festival was <br /> being planned for next year, featuring local farms and including Wampanoag culture and multi-cultural <br /> festival, including foods and activities. In addition, the Wampanoag New Year bulb planting would be <br /> occurring. The Vice Chair also discussed Maushop Farm owned by the Tribe, which would be <br /> operating to provide fresh food for the food pantry. <br /> MEETING ADJOURNMENT <br /> The next meeting was scheduled for April 21. <br /> MOTION: Ms. Waterman made a motion to adjourn.
