83 Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 41, Section 21. Sub- mitted by petition of citizen's group. Action: Motion made and seconded article be indefinite- ly postponed. 76 for 55 opposed. Motion carried. Article 38. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to appoint rather than elect the Park and Recrea- tion Commission of the Town of Mashpee in accordance with the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 41, Section 21. Submitted by petition of citizen's group. Action: Article declared illegal. Article 39. To see if the Town will vote to amend Sec- tion 1 of Article X of the Town By-Laws to read: "No elected officer of the Town of Mashpee, except a member of the Board of Assessors and agents of Boards, Inspectors and the Town Treasurer shall re- ceive any compensation for transportation within the limits of the Town." Action: Motion made and seconded article be indefinite- ly postponed. A vote. Article 40. To see if the Town will vote to compensate the Park and Recreation, and Cemetery Commissioners for labor at the hourly rate of pay as established by the Town, or take any other action thereon. Submitted by Park & Rec- reation, and Cemetery Commission. Action: Motion made and seconded article be accepted as read. A unanimous vote. Article 41. To see if the Town will authorize the Park and Recreation Commission to hire 2 life guards and 2 at- tendants one each to serve at Attaquin Park Beach and South Cape Beach from and including June 20 to and through Labor Day of September, a total of 80 days, or take any other action thereon. Submitted by Mashpee Park & Recreation Commission. Action: Motion made and seconded article be accepted as read. A unanimous vote. Article 42. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $5,120.00 to be used as salaries for two lifeguards and two attendants for Attaquin Park Beach and South Cape Beach or take any other action thereon.
