18
Report of the Board of Health
The Town Board of Health worked with the County
Health Department in compiling a list of the holders of
Common Victualler and Recreational Licenses. All of these
places were inspected for sanitation and sewage disposal and
i were found to be in satisfactory condition in accordance
with the County Health standards at the time of examination,
Drinking water was sampled and analyzed and found to be
pure.
The Board of Health cooperated with the District Nurse
in conducting the clinics held at the school. Children who
needed further attention with eye and ear defects were
transported to the clinics at the Massachusetts Eye &
'-
Ear Infirmary.
The Board also cooperated with the Park Department in
keeping the Town Beaches free of seaweed and debris. This
year the Park Department expects to assume this respon-
sibility and the anticipated expenditure will reflect in their
budget.
The Board also cleaned up and buried dead herring
that littered the edges of Mill Pond and Mashpee River. This
work was accomplished with the assistance of the Herring
Warden.
The Board received reports of several cases of communi-
cable diseases, one case of polio, and one premature birth.
Several restraining orders were issued to persons whose
dogs had reportedly bitten people.
Burial and body removal permits were issued by the
board when requested by Funeral Directors.
F
