9
;463
Selectmen's Report
1887
1548
1476
14-4 To the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
The Board of Selectmen hereby present their Annual
1091 Report for the year ending December 31, 1955. —
W-1
;851 The over-all picture of this past year has been one of
progress. In high-lighting some of the activities in our
town which have a direct bearing on future developments,
we might mention the initiative taken by our Park Com-
dssioners who play such an important part in making our
recreational spots attractive and enjoyable. This program is
important because it instills a sense of pride in our resi-
dents and is instrumental in attracting vacationers who
in many instances have found Mashpee the desirable place
to settle permanently.
The Highway Department successfully completed all
new construction and maintenance work provided for. It
hardly seems necessary to mention what an important asset
good roads are in the development of our town.
We are especially pleased with our newly purchased
Police Cruiser. Not only does the cruiser demand utmost
respect from potential traffic violators and other law break-
ers; it is also equipped to serve as an emergency ambu-
lance. The town has previously accepted Chapter 40, Section
97 of the General Laws, which provides for a full time
Police.Chief, other than a board member. We hope to ful-
fill this obligation in the near future.
The appointment of a full time Fire Chief has rendered
a great sense of security. Chief Peters has devoted full time
in the efficient operation and maintenance of this function.
