c j;S <br /> 26 <br /> a <br /> Park and Recreation Committee <br /> 1 <br /> y " To the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: <br /> z As you have found in your town reports of previous years <br /> that the recreation appropriation has never exceeded $300.00, <br /> t and often the full amount is not spent during the year. <br /> r �I <br /> ' If we had a functioning recreation program, it would be <br /> {` quite necessary to ask for a much larger appropriation where- <br /> in a qualified supervisor would be required plus the needed <br /> kx equipment. <br /> As it functions now the recreation department will pur- <br /> chase equipment for the different activities such as basketball, <br /> � t <br /> is volleyball, baseball etc., if the programs are properly super- <br /> vised by some interested group of the town. <br /> The department purchased films for the school Christmas <br /> 3 program and also runs films for the Community Christmas <br /> Tree and other entertainment to be enjoyed by anyone who <br /> t '1 <br /> wished to attend. <br /> x <br />' This year it would be wise to purchase a new record <br /> player, because the one we have now is small and plays one <br /> record at a time and this causes too much handling of the <br /> ti 7 <br /> machine and records too, consequently there is need for con- <br /> stant repairs. <br /> ' x 4 We had requests from the youth of the town to place a <br /> raft over the lake, which both the Park Department and the <br /> `;' Recreation Department agree that it would be a fine thing <br /> but again we would be required to have proper supervision as <br /> Mashpee Lake is a public beach. <br /> 1 We have a very limited recreation program for the youth <br /> of the Town of Mashpee.
