In the year 2020, I would like Mashpee... • To have a high level of public safety <br /> -traffic safety, crime safety, fire safety <br /> Fiscally Sound -affordable automobile insurance <br /> -low tax rate and stable finances <br /> • To have a new Town cemetery <br /> • Possessing High Quality Water Resources <br /> -Reduced nitrogen • To have greater access to high speed information <br /> • To have its Natural Resources Healthy and • To have enhanced cultural awareness <br /> Protected <br /> • To have its Comprehensive Plan Implemented <br /> • To have access to reasonable rates for energy <br /> • To have efficient and effective Town government <br /> • Not greatly changed from current landscape -Large role for technology to enhance records <br /> -Preserve the character of the Town of Mashpee management <br /> • Development will be attractive The Most Critical Needs Facing Mashpee: <br /> -adherence to architectural and site planning <br /> standards • Financial Needs <br /> -Educational costs <br /> • Town unity will be the norm -Financing public infrastructure <br /> • Top-level educational opportunities will be -Establishing financial reserves <br /> available for residents of all ages • Environmental Needs <br /> -Protecting water quality <br /> • To be a good environment for business -Protecting natural scenic resources <br /> -Access by residents to affordable goods and <br /> services Growth Management Needs <br /> -Year-round economy with more year-round jobs -Slowing community growth <br /> -Building needed infrastructure and public buildings <br /> • To have adequate Town buildings and infrastructure -Developing a municipal sewer system <br /> in place with debt substantially paid off -Historic district development in the <br /> Route 130 area <br /> • To have a stable population -Protect the character of our community <br /> • To have a thriving green tourism industry • Traffic/Public Safety <br /> • To have a broad array of quality programs for • Human Services <br /> seniors, including housing and adult day care <br /> • Working with and focussing the many Town <br /> • To have human services available for all aspects boards and committees <br /> of the population <br /> • Maintaining and supporting professional <br /> • To have recreational facilities for all ages government staffing <br /> • To have curbside refuse collection • Saving our Town Beach from erosion <br /> -Improved recycling community-wide <br /> Goals for the Board of Selectmen <br /> • To have increased affordable housing alternatives <br /> • Improve Town Buildings <br /> • To have clean public water available to all residents -Define building needs <br /> -Complete Fire Station project t <br /> • To have a high level of participation in local <br /> government • Improve Traffic Safety <br /> -both residents and non-resident taxpayers -Study traffic safety issues including accident <br /> data, dangerous intersections <br /> • To have improved public transportation -Develop projects to increase safety <br /> -9 <br />
