Motion made by David Leveille. <br /> Motion.- I move the Town vote to create thepart-time End User Support position under the <br /> Town's Personnel Administration Plan at Grade 11, Step 1, and further, the Town vote to <br /> appropriate and transfer $11,238 from the Data Processing Expense Account with said funds to <br /> be distributed as follows: $11 000 to the Data Processing Salary/wage Account, and 3 8 to the <br /> Medicare Account. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 7:53 p.m. <br /> Article <br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to acquire, by purchase or otherwise for <br /> conservation and passive recreation purposes, that parcel of land identified on the 2001 Masbpee <br /> Assessors' Maps as Map 70, Mock 135, consisting of 8000 square feet, more or less, located at <br /> the corner of"Riverview Avenue" and"Laurel Street" and shown as lots 39, 40 41 and 42 on a <br /> Plan entitled"Cotuit Park in Barnstable County, Mass. Owned by Charles L. Gifford, Cotuit, <br /> Mass." dated January 1, 1914 and,recorded at the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds in Plan <br /> Book 1, Page 20, to be held in the care and custody of the Conservation Commission pursuant to <br /> Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section C; and further, to see if the Town will vote to <br /> appropriate and transfer from the Land Bank Fund established by the Town under the provisions <br /> of Chapter 293 of the acts of 1 (An. Act Relative to the Establishment of the Cape Cod Opera. <br /> Space Land Acquisition Program) $11,900 for such purpose, including expenses incidental and <br /> related thereto; and further, to see if the Tows will authorize the hoard of Selectmen aid/or <br /> Conservation. Commission ission to enter into contracts or agreements with Federal, State and/or <br /> County agencies, private conservation trusts or other entities or persons in connection with the <br /> acquisition of all or a portion of such land and its preservation for conservation and passive <br /> recreation purposes, includin enforcement forcement of conservation restrictions or the land;d; and fi a.all.y, <br /> to see if the Town will authorize the Conservation Commission and the ward of Selectmen to <br /> enter into agreements and execute any and all instruments as may be necessary on behalf"of the <br /> "own to effectuate said acquisition and preservation; or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by Open Space Committee <br /> Explanation: This article would authorize the Board of Selectmen to purchase, on behalf of the <br /> Conservation Commission, an 8000 square foot lot adjacent to existing Town conservation land <br /> previously purchased with Land Bank funds appropriated by the October 1999 Town Meeting, as <br /> well as other Town lands acquired through tax takings and the trade of Lands with willowbend <br /> Development Corporation rp approved by the October 2000 Town Meeting. These lands are <br /> located on the west side of the Santuit River between willowbend, 1'' aushop Stables and the <br /> Cotuit Bay Condominiums. Recent studies by the Public Archaeology Lab indicate that the <br /> properties contain extensive archaeological deposits dating back 5000 years. The property is in <br /> the recharge area. of Shoestring Bray and is part of an area recommended as a priority acquisition <br /> by the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> Motion made to dispense with reading of article. <br /> Motion to dispense with reading of article passes at 7:54 p.m. <br />
