Town of Mashpee <br /> Special Town Meeting <br /> December 9, 2002 <br /> Meeting was called to, order at 71:42 p.m. <br /> 389 voters present <br /> Quorum 100 <br /> Barnstable, ss: Greetings <br /> To the Constables of the Town, <br /> In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and <br /> summon the inhabitants of the Town of Mas,hpee who are qualified to vote in the elections to <br /> meet at the Quashnet School on,Monday, the 91h day of December, 2002 at <br /> 7:30 p.m. for the following purposes: <br /> To act on the articles contained in the following Warrant. <br /> Motion made by James Vaccaro. <br /> Motion: I move pursuant to M.G.L. c.39', §15, to dispense with a counted vote on the articles <br /> requiring a 2/3rds vote, however, seven voters may question the moderators declaration of the <br /> vote and a counted vote shall occur. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 7:43 p.m. <br /> Article I <br /> To see if the Town will vote to appropriate $1,500,000 for the purpose of renovating and/or <br /> constructing and equipping the Mashpee Senior Center, including the payment of all costs <br /> incidental and related thereto and to determine whether this appropriation shall be raised by <br /> borrowing or otherwise, the total cost of which will be $2,100,000; provided, that such <br /> appropriation shall be contingent upon a vote at an election to exempt from the provisions of <br /> G.L.C. 59 § 214 Proposition 21/2), the amounts required to pay the principal of and interest on <br /> the borrowing authorized under this article. Further, the Board of Selectmen be authorized to <br /> apply for, contract for, and expend funds from the anticipated Massachusetts CDBG, Community <br /> Development Block Grant, in the amount of$600,000 which shall be expended in addition to the <br /> amount appropriated under this article, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation: Due to a technical flaw with the vote taken at the May 2002 town meeting voters <br /> are being asked to reaffirm the vote. <br /> Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by Wayne Taylor, <br />
