Article 9 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to create and fill two full-time Skilled Laborer positions under the <br /> Public Works Local 254 Contract, Step I for the Department of Public Works, and further to <br /> raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds $62,134, with said funds to be distributed <br /> as follows: $4615192 to the D.P.W. Salary/Wage Account; $14, to the Medical Insurance <br /> Account-, $784 to the Medicare Account, and $70 to the Group Insurance Account, or take any <br /> other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Public Works Department <br /> Explanation: Over the past 10 years as the Town. has expanded, the Public Works Department <br /> has not added any full-time staff. We are now responsible for the maintenance of seven town <br /> buildings, three town beaches, one cemetery, town recreation areas, and all town roads. During <br /> the past 10 years, we have added 76 additional roads to be maintained. The passage of this <br /> article will provide the operational staff with a total of 17 employees. <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Blythe. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to create and fill two full-time Skilled Laborer positions under <br /> the Public Works Local 254 Contract, Step 1, for the Department of Public Works, and further, <br /> the Town vote to raise and appropriate $62,134 with said funds to be distributed as follows: <br /> $46,592 to the D.P.W. Salary/Wage Account; $1. , 8 to the Medical Insurance Account, $784 <br /> to the Medicare Account, and $70 to the Group Insurance Account. <br /> 0 <br /> Motion passes at 9:44 p.m. <br /> Article 10 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to create a full-time Senior Clerk position under the Clerical <br /> Contract, Grade 11, Step I for the Building Department and further to raise and appropriate or <br /> transfer from available funds $27,934 with said funds to be distributed as follows: $20,,261 to the <br /> Building Inspector Salary/Wage Account, $,7,344 to the Medical Insurance Account, $294 to the <br /> Medicare Account, and $35 to the Group Insurance Account, or take any other action relating <br /> thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Building Department <br /> Explanation: The Building Department is asking the members of the Board and Finance <br /> Committee to approve a full-time permanent Senior Clerk position under the Clerical Union <br /> Contract. This position is necessary to fulfill the increased workload within the department; it <br /> will keep a balance between the clerical and the inspection requirements of the department. <br /> Having two full-time Clerks in the office will now help free the inspectors from the clerical <br /> duties to perform the necessary code compliance in field inspections, plan reviews, zoning <br /> regulations and all other related duties. <br />
