Voice vote . Those against in majority. Vote was not carried. Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to take from available un s , t e sum of Nine Hundred Twenty Eight and 90/100 ($928. 90) dollars in order to increase the annual salary of the Town Clerk from $945.00 to $2500.00, said increase to be effective as of May -25, 1970. Submitted by Town Clerk. NOT RECOMMENDED BY FINANCE COMMITTEE F. Shea, Town Accountant : I would like like to offer an amendment to this article; that the sum of $928. 90 be changed to $300.00 and the date May 25 be changed to October 26, 1970. In offering this , I bring out the point that the Town Clerk is expected to spend considerable more hours on her work starting October 26th. Floor : May we hear from the Finance Committee? Garland: Our stand is exactly the same here as in the preceding case. K.D.O 'Connell: Starting Monday she will be working 5 days a week, 4 hours a day in our office. This is not the same situation as you have had previously. . . . . . . Question: 4 hours ev_ ery day? K. O 'Connell : Yes , 4 hours every day, Monday through Friday. Eventually, if this article is passed, it will be 8 hours a day, five days a week, Monday through Friday, there will be someone here to serve you if this article is passed. I move this article be accepted as read. Correction: as amended. Here the Moderator called for an acceptance of the amendment. it was voted to accept the amendment. Rollins : As it is now, the office is opened on Wednesday nights . Mrs. Houston is here sometimes during the day. Many people work and are not able to come on Wednesday night for the services of our office, or the town clerk' s services for marriage licenses, dog licenses , registration to vote, etc. This is the beginning of putting these services at your disposal on a full time basis . You will all be thankful to be able to come ro Town Hall when you want services from the Town Clerk, and have these services available . Moderator reads amended article . K.
