h <br /> i <br /> i <br /> i <br /> ANNUAL TOWN MEETING - March 6, 1972 <br /> Tellers : Helen Edwards Taggers : Caroline Gilligan <br /> Eleanor Peters Jane Labute <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7 : 20 by the Moderator, <br /> William Mills . Prayer was led by Leroy Aiken, former Selectman <br /> of many years . Salute to the flag followed. The summons was then <br /> read by the Moderator, who proceeded to ask non voters with colored <br /> tags to sit in the section reserved for non-voters , <br /> Mr. Frank Hicks , Selectman, then rose to speak, and called the <br /> attention of the voters to the fact that the Town is without "free <br /> cash" . He asked the voters to consider carefully and; weigh all <br /> requests for money carefully, and to try as much as possible to follow <br /> the recommendations of the Finance Committee who have worked <br /> very hard to keep the budget down. He stated that if we follow the <br /> recommendations of the Finance Committee it is possible we will <br /> have a possible raise of four or five dollars . He states that with <br /> 100 percent valuation we are taking a 12 to 15 dollar raise, realistic- <br /> ally. "I hope you will follow the Finance Committee ' s recommendations , " <br /> he said. "Thank you. " <br /> The Moderator then continued with the reading of the Warrant. <br /> Article 1 : To choose all necessary town officials who are not elected <br /> under the Australian Ballot System: <br /> Burial Agent Herring Warden <br /> Harbor Master Finance Committee Members , 3 for 3 years , <br /> For Burial Agent,, nominations were closed on the name of Leigh Potter. <br /> if Harbor Master, nominations were closed on the name of Gordon Crowell . <br /> if Herring Warden nominations were closed on the name of Warren Hicks . <br /> For Finance Committee, names nominated were Charles H. Lawrence ; <br /> sponsored by Chester A. Garland; among other credentials cited was <br /> i <br /> Chairman of the Hull Finance Committee for 5 years; Tom Gillis ; <br /> Amelia Miller (declined) Chester A. Garland and Robert Delory. <br /> Ballots were passed out with instructions to vote for three of the <br /> nominees ; Mr. Ehrisman rose to ask for information on the nominees . <br />
