Vote: 4-0 unanimous
• Update: Red Brook Pond culvert
Agent said there was a culvert failure that drained the bog and flooded Hamblin Pond
causing shellfish failure. They are privately owned by Seabrook Shores. It is an ongoing
investigation, short term we want to patch this up, long term we want to reestablish Red
Brook as a brook and stream instead of flooded bogs. It's a tenuous situation. We are
handling all this through emergency certification through the Wetlands Protection Act. This
allows the work to proceed and retroactive permitting will take place once the issue is
discovered.
• Division of Ecological Restoration site visit: Upper Quashnet Bogs— provisional status
Horsley Witten is currently managing this project. DER said this is a good candidate for their
provisional status, until we're at a conceptual approach. This will stay on their radar, we'll
never have to reapply as long as it's on provisional status, we're still eligible for DER funding
and technical assistance. Agent will keep everyone informed.
• ADDITIONAL TOPICS:
(This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably anticipate would be
discussed).
Mr. Smith said the Commission needs to nominate a representative Environmental Oversight
Committee. The group agreed that Mr. Smith can be the representative.
Adjournment:
Motion: Mr. O'Neil moved to adjourn, Mr. Swartzbaugh seconded.
Vote: 4-0 unanimous
Meeting adjourned at 8:OOpm.
Respectfully sub) itte
atri
g
Board cretary
