established by the vote under Article 18 of the Warrant for the May 1996 Annual Town <br /> Meeting in which, income eligible Mashpee residents perform services for the Town in exchange <br /> for compensation which can be used for the payment of property taxes, and raise and <br /> appropriate or transfer from available funds $5,000 to the Council on Aging Property Tax <br /> Voucher System Account to fund such program for Fiscal Year 1998. <br /> Submitted by the Council on Aging <br /> Explanation,,* The program is designed to match municipal position opportunities with income <br /> eligible Mashp�ee residents seeking tax relief, and assist them in the payment of property tax <br /> bills through payment for services rendered to the Town. The program will operate through and <br /> be administered by the Council on Aging. Program goals will be to assist citizens with property <br /> tax bills, to increase involvement in municipal government and the school system. <br /> Eligibility requirements include but are not limited to: <br /> Homeowner or current spouse <br /> Full time resident of Mashpee <br /> Own and occupy the property for which Mashpee taxes are paid and for which a rebate is <br /> requested <br /> Willingness to present a copy of current Mashp�ee Tax Notice upon application to <br /> program <br /> Submits completed application <br /> Meets income guidelines agreed to by Council on Aging and Selectmen <br /> Ability to meet and provide skills, talents, and abilities required of position description <br /> Must complete 100 hours of service before rebate/voucher issued <br /> Must complete 100 hours within Town's fiscal year <br /> Must meet reporting criteria established by Council on Aging <br /> Meets position requirements <br /> Benefit Limit: <br /> $5.00 per hour for all positions <br /> Maximum rebate/voucher of$500 per fiscal year per household <br /> Level of Town appropriation determines maximum number of participants per year <br /> Responsibility of Town Departments: <br /> Identify position opportunities <br /> Prepare acceptable position description <br /> Interview candidates <br /> Recommend match <br /> Supervise participants <br /> Assist in program evaluation <br /> 0 <br /> Recommendation. Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> 15 <br />
