Development Coordinator (19 hours per week) under the Personnel Administration Flan <br /> (P.A.P.), Grade 12, for the Economic Development Committee and further the Town vote to <br /> raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds the sum of $1,167 to the Medicare <br /> Account, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Economic Development Committee <br /> Explanation: This article is for the conversion of the part-time consulting position of <br /> Economic Development coordinator to a limited part-time position. The position assists the <br /> Selectmen through its Economic Development Committee in carrying out the Town's strategic <br /> plan for economic development and in marketing the Town as a site for clean, light industry. <br /> Conversion to a Town position will help foster a more long-term approach to economic <br /> development and will guarantee compliance with. IRS guidelines for the use of consultants. <br /> Recommendation: The :finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by haul Reynolds. <br /> Motion move the Town vote to create a non-standard., part-tune position of Economic <br /> Development Coordinator (19 hours per week) under the Personnel Administration flan <br /> (P.A.P.), Grade 12, for the Economic Development Committee and further the Town vote to <br /> raise and appropriate $1,167 to the Medicare Account. <br /> Motion passes at 1.0:13 p.m. <br /> Article 8. <br /> To see if the Town will vote to direct the Board of Selectmen to create, subject to approval of <br /> full grant funding therefor, the position of Temporary Police Officer within the Mashpee Police <br /> Department and further, pursuant to Massachusetts General. Law Chapter 41, Section 97A, to <br /> see if the Town will vote to direct the Board of Selectmen to appoint two Temporary Police <br /> Officers without compensation, and the Chief of Police to assign said temporary police officers <br /> to duty with the Mashpee Police Department Domestic violence Invrvestigation Unit or tape any <br /> other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Police Department <br /> Explanation: The 1 lashpee Police Department has applied for grant funding from the U.S. <br /> Department o Justice to create a Domestic Violence <br /> p Investigation Unit to help the <br /> Mashpee Community combat domestic violence. If the grant is awarded, it will provide 100% <br /> funding of salary and fringe benefits for the two temporary police officers for a one year period. <br /> Creation of the DVIU will allow the Mashpee Police Department to use its community policing <br /> techniques and specialized resources to enhance police response to domestic violence in a <br /> diverse community such as Mashpee. The DVIU will use police officers, civilian staff, trained <br /> counselors from. Independence House, Inc., to oversee and improve police department efforts to <br /> reduce total incidences of domestic violence. The two temporary police officers requested will <br /> be assigned to ensure that a DVIU office will be on duty every day to provide a specialized <br /> follow up and response to all reported domestic violence cases. <br /> 5 <br />
