income which shall be used to further the operation of programs under the Council on Aging, and to establish the <br /> limit on expenditures from said account for Fiscal year 1999 at $3,000. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 8:34 p.m. <br /> Article 14 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to create the position of a Part-Time Ambulance Billing Clerk and appropriate and <br /> transfer $13,435 from the Ambulance Receipts for Appropriation Account; said funds to be apportioned as <br /> follows: $12,480 to the Fire Salary / Wage Account and $955 to the Medicare Account, or take any action <br /> relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Fire Department <br /> Explanation: The action replaces a function currently done by a subcontractor with a department employee. <br /> Recommendation: Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by George Costa. <br /> Motion: I move Article 14 be voted as printed in the warrant, with the exception of the phrase, " or take any <br /> action relating thereto." <br /> Motion made to amend to 19 hours at 8:35 p.m. <br /> Motion to amend passes at 8:36 p.m. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 8:37 p.m. <br /> Article 15 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to hire and equip two full-time police officers and that the Town vote to raise and <br /> appropriate or transfer from available funds, $33,149, with said funds apportioned as follows: Police Patrolman <br /> Salaries Account, $16,178; Police Expense Account, $5,000; Group Insurance Account, $70; Employee Medical <br /> Insurance Account, $10,962; and Medicare Account, $939, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Police Department <br /> Explanation: The two additional police officer positions will be assigned to the Mashpee Police Department <br /> Operations Division, Patrol Section to accomplish general law enforcement and community policing duties as <br /> assigned. The two new officers will be assigned to new overlap shifts providing overlap coverage for better <br /> service to the citizens and for times when a shift is busy in its roll call periods. In addition to the 25% funding <br /> requested for these two police positions, a federal grant, "Cops Universal Hiring", awarded to the Town of <br /> Mashpee will provide 75% of the two police officers salaries over a three year period. <br /> Recommendation: Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> 18 <br />
