Submitted by Conservation Commission
Explanation: This article would authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire, on behalf of the Conservation
Commission, all or a portion of a parcel of land on Back Road which is bounded on two sides by the Town's
existing John's Pond Park Conservation Area and fronts on both Moody Pond, the town's only large totally
undeveloped pond, and John's Pond. Purchase would complete protection of the entire shoreline of Moody
Pond. The property is within the boundaries of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. The Town will apply for
a 52% grant reimbursement under the state's Self-Help Land Acquisition program to help defray the cost of this
property.
Recommendation: Finance Committee recommends approval.
