of Selectmen to enter into agreements and execute any and all instruments as may be necessary on behalf of the <br /> Town to effectuate said acquisition; or take any other action related thereto. <br /> Submitted by Conservation Commission <br /> Explanation: This article would authorize the board of Selectmen to acquire, by eminent domain taking if <br /> necessary, a parcel of land on Great Oak Road which is surrounded by Town and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service <br /> lands at the so-called "Bufflehead Bay" site which has recently been subdivided and is imminently threatened with <br /> development. The property is within the boundaries of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. The Town will <br /> apply for a 52% grant reimbursement under the state's Self-Help Land Acquisition program to help defray the <br /> cost of this property. <br /> Recommendation: Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by George Costa. <br /> Motion: I move that the Board of Selectmen is hereby authorized and directed to acquire by gift, by purchase, <br /> by eminent domain or otherwise, for conservation purposes, all or a portion of that land shown as lots 1,2,3, and <br /> 4 on a "Plan of Land in Mashpee, Massachusetts.
