Motion passes at 9:03 p.m. <br /> ARTICLE 7 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to reauthorize a property tax work-off voucher system in <br /> which ten (10) income eligible Mashpee residents perform services for the Town in <br /> exchange for compensation which can be used for the payment of property taxes, and to <br /> raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds $5,250 to the Council on Aging <br /> Property Tax Voucher System Account to fund such program for fiscal year 2000, or take <br /> any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Council on Aging <br /> Explanation: The program is designed to match municipal position opportunities with <br /> income eligible taxpayers seeking tax relief. Program goals will be to assist citizens with <br /> property tax bills, to increase involvement of citizens in municipal government and the <br /> school system, and to acknowledge and affirm the skills, talents and abilities of Mashpee <br /> residents and the community's continuing need for their services and contributions. <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to reauthorize a property tax work-off voucher system in <br /> which income eligible Mashpee residents perform services for the Town in exchange for <br /> compensation which can be used for the payment of property taxes, and further, the Town <br /> vote to raise and appropriate $5,250 to the Council On Aging Property Tax Voucher <br /> System Account to fund such program for fiscal year 2000. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 9:04 p.m. <br /> ARTICLE 8 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to re-authorize the revolving Home Composting Bin Account <br /> through the Town Accountant's office in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, <br /> Chapter 44, Section 53EI/z , to be expended under the direction of the Board of Health, in <br /> order to place anticipated revenues collected from the sale of compost bins, which shall be <br /> used to purchase additional compost bins, and advertise the availability of such bins and to <br /> establish the limit on expenditures from said account for Fiscal Year 2000 at $2,500, or <br /> take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Health <br /> Explanation: This article seeks to reauthorize the Home Composting Bin Revolving <br /> Account for Fiscal Year 2000. This account is used to purchase additional compost bins <br /> and advertise the availability of such bins. <br />
