Annual Town Meeting - Mashpee Monday March 5, 1973 <br /> Article 7 Continued: <br /> approximately forty hours per month were needed and that <br /> over an eighteen month period this would amount to about <br /> 720 hours . He stated that they hope to rewrite the subdivision <br /> laws and that definitely they needed a clerk to help them do <br /> this ; and that it was going to take a great deal of time . <br /> Mr. Lehmann here rose to say that they needed plenty of time <br /> to plan what was best for the Town of Mashpee . He stated that <br /> they needed someone to take proper notes at meetings . Mr. <br /> Marsters made a motion that the figure of $900.00 for wages <br /> stand. It was seconded. The Moderator then stated a motion. <br /> had been made and was seconded that the $900.00 be granted. <br /> It was so voted. <br /> Mr. Garland rose to speak on items 40, 41 and 42 the <br /> salary of the Police Chief, ,Deputy Chief and the Sergeants <br /> and Patrolmen. Mr. Garland here explained that the figures for <br /> the salaries for these men had all been predetermined in <br /> bargining sessions between the Personnel Board and the Police <br /> Association and that the Chief ' s salary was automatically <br /> set in ratio to that amount received by the men. He stated that <br /> he was to blame for this "misunderstanding" . He said, "the <br /> salary for the Chief should read $20, 206.00. The salary for <br /> the Deputy should be $15, 870.00. Salaries for Sergeants and <br /> Patrolmen should amount to $120, 155 .00" . "I move" said Mr. <br /> Garland the acceptance of these three figures . <br /> At this point; Chief Bingham of the Police Department, <br /> arose and came to the front of the room. <br /> Chief Bingham: "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I don't <br /> intend to become enbroiled in a controversy here" , he said. I <br /> cannot completely agree with the Finance Committee ' s figures . <br /> I have gone over this with the Town Accountant and I think we <br /> see eye to eye" . <br /> Chief Bingham then stated that according to the contract <br /> that he had in his possession the figures should be as follows : <br />
