"Tenure Agreement" , which is a document resulting from the bargi..ning sessions between the Selectmen' s Office and the Fire and Police Association. He also read the exception which says , for a just cause , the Selectmen can remove the may., "'Tenure" or no after a hearing. The officer i_n question would be allowed to answer any charges against him and to be represented by counsel. If the accusation proves to be just and fair, the roan might either be removed or lowered in rank. If the member of the department is not satisfied within thirty days he may take the case to the District Court for an appeal. Them we will have the decision of the District Court to back us up, if we are not satisfied with the Select non' s decision and we have a just case . If , however . the`c �,rt finds the charges against us are justified, we may be removed or denoted. If the charges are not justified the Selectmen must reappoint us. I have been a member of the department s nce 1963 and "Tenure" would give me the privilege of remaining a member of the depart- ment until I am sixty-five years old or unless I ate incapacitated sooner or removed for just cause.
