Page 4. Annual Town Meeting ® Mashpee Monday March 59 1973
Article 6 Continued:
( r I
(Green speaking) coested for it® I don' t think this has been '
properly. understood before .
Garland : VThat has been asked for here is a thirty percent
increase® l realize the extent of the work that has had to be
done in the removal of snow and ice . I realize also, that with
extra work and over: time pay some of the men are getting more
money then Mr. Green. The Finance Committee feels that a ten
percent increase this year and a five percent increase next year
would be more in line with requirements and the ability to pay.
As for doing work for other departments , it is fiscally improper
for this roan to do this work without transfer of funds from other
departments to pay him. We appreciate this fact and we are sorry;
we don' t think that in view of the present fiscal change that
ti"??_s is the thing to do mow® We still hold that ten percent,
this year and five percent next year would be a better way to
handle this situation.
Moderator: We have here a hold by the Board of Health. Will the
Chairman of the Board of Health -olease rise and give his reasons
for requesting the hold?
Lashley: Mr. Moderator l- asked a hold on the Board of Health
amounts because l feel we should be granted the amount we requested.
The 1$2250.00 that was requested for the agent is only $1.500.00
a year, and the whole amount represents that which has been asked
for an eighteen month period. The work load- has doubled since
years ago. As for the other two members we feel that they should
i
be properly paid when you consider what they are asked to do,
C
and when you co -Lder the rates of pay of other inspectors, we
don' t feel that the amounts that we ask -for are out of line .
t
The $1500.00 dollars asked for in the case of the other Board
of Health members is only a $1 g 000.00 a year, and the $1500.00 I
is for an. eigh.teen month period. We don' t feel that this is out
of line
E
Garland: What is out of line is the difference between $1300®00
iA7, i_ch was voted for operation in 1972 and the requested $22:50 >00
which has been ,requested for the eighteen month period in. 1973
