26
Report of the Selectmen
The Town is in excellent financial condition. We have
grown considerably in the past several years. Our valuation
has now gone up to nearly two million dollars. People are
being attracted to our several resort areas and purchasing
land, and building new cottages, which has considerably in-
creased our valuation, while our tax rate is being gradually
reduced.
A number of projects have been started and.completed
this past year by your Selectmen. The Town Hall exterior has
been painted and completed. The bids were advertised and
the contract let to Mr. Robert Winters of Cataumet. Another
I } bid for the interior was advertised and the contract was also
awarded to.Mr.Robert Winters.of Cataumet. This project has
been started, but is not yet completed, although the con-
tractor is working on it every day.
Additional street lights:,have been-installed where they
were requested by a vote of the Town with the exception_ of
Orchard Road. The Cape and Vineyard ;Electric Company
would not install on this road as they had no facilities in that
area. This year they may complete the project as they have
iw3 run electricity into the homes of property owners.on that
ha, road, this winter.
The Town Barn has been repaired and painted. The bids
l ' were a<jvertised and the contract was awarded to Mr. Harold
Snowden of West Yarmouth. The building is in good condi-
I tion with the exception of the roof which we hope can be
repaired this year. We also hope to have an automatic gas
blower type heater installed. These projects will depend on
the outcome of the vote at our annual Town Meeting.
